My favorite medium is colored pencil because I like the amount of control you have over the material. I also love how colored pencils present all the advantages of pencils with the additional benefit of vibrant colors.
My least favorite medium is charcoal because I find it difficult to create the shading I want in addition to the shape I want.

Paint Texture Warmup 1. I found it difficult to mix the paint swatches because I had trouble matching the exact shade of the paint samples. It was hard getting the right percentages of each primary color for the correct base color I needed. For example, before I even began adding in white and black, I had to create a green similar to the shade on the paint sample. This was difficult because if I added too much yellow, my color began turning more chartreuse, and if I added too much blue, my color began turning more teal. Finding the perfect balance between these colors to get the desired effect was frustrating to me and took time.
2. I made the color brown by mixing together orange and blue. 3. I chose to paint Monet's gardens in Giverny, France. Over the summer, my family went on a week trip to France for my first trip out of the country since I was 6. During the trip, I took over 1,000 pictures of all the beautiful scenery and architecture. When we started this project, I knew I wanted to pick a picture from during the trip, and I thought the scenery at Giverny would make a great monochromatic painting with all its brilliant shades of green. 1. The most helpful warm up was the pen cubes warm up; this warm up introduced me to new shading techniques that I found appealing and effective. 2. Composition is the arrangement of visual elements in a work of art according to principles of art. Value is the lightness or darkness of colors in a work of art. Pencil Medium
